ABOUT
RAUNIKA ANAND
I engineer. I draw. I write. I code. I create. I teach. I persevere.
Welcome to my world of engineering and robotics! My name is Raunika Anand, and I'm on a mission to create innovative solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible.
As a graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles, I'm pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Robotics and Control. In addition to my studies, I'm also a design engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where I work on designing electro-mechanical systems that can withstand the harsh environments of space.
Currently, I'm working with Professor Tyler Clites in his Anatomical Engineering group on my thesis’s literature review where I'm exploring new frontiers in the field of rehabilitation and augmentative engineering technology.
In addition to my work with Professor Clites, I'm also proud to have previously worked in Dr. Dennis Hong's Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory (RoMeLa) at UCLA, where I gained valuable experience in legged robot design and prototyping.
I'm also passionate about teaching and sharing my knowledge with others. As a teaching assistant at UCLA, I've had the opportunity to work with some of the brightest minds in the field, including Alan Garfinkel, Jane Shevstov, Morgan Tingley, and Kristin McCully. Their insights have only strengthened my desire to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists.
Before coming to UCLA, I completed my undergraduate studies at Vellore Institute of Technology, where I worked with Design, Manufacturing, and Machining under the guidance of Dr. Vasudevan R (Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering), Dr. Aravind Raj S., and Dr. Rajalakshmi G. Additionally, I was an active core committee member of SEDS India and RoboVITics (the official robotics club of VIT Vellore) and worked with Combat Robotics as part of Team Orcus for over a year.
When I'm not working on challenging engineering problems, you can find me building fun LEGO sets that challenge my creativity and problem-solving skills. I believe that just like LEGO blocks, every problem has a solution waiting to be discovered. I'm always looking for new challenges and opportunities to make a positive impact on the world.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my passions. Let's work together to engineer a better future for all!
